Amon-Ra St. Brown Ahead of the 2026 NFL Munich Game: Lions Star Delivers Another Top-Notch Performance
Amon-Ra Starts with Four Touchdowns in Two Games
The season could hardly have started much better for Amon-Ra St. Brown personally. In the 31–30 season-opening victory against the New Orleans Saints, the wide receiver caught ten passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Just four days later, he followed that up in the road game against the Buffalo Bills with nine receptions, 142 yards, and yet another two touchdowns.
This marked an extraordinary start for him. Along with Andre Rison, St. Brown is one of only two players in NFL history to record at least nine receptions and two receiving touchdowns in each of the first two games of the season. After just two weeks, he already had 19 receptions, 209 receiving yards, and four touchdowns to his credit.
53 receptions and 571 yards after seven games
Even though his touchdown output initially declined after that, St. Brown remained a constant presence in the Lions’ offense. After seven games, the 27-year-old has 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also been targeted 76 times and averages 10.8 yards per catch. This makes him Detroit’s leader in both receptions and receiving yards.
League-wide, St. Brown remains among the elite: With 53 receptions, he currently ranks among the top five most productive receivers in the NFL. Projected over a full 17-game season, his current pace would result in approximately 129 receptions, just under 1,400 receiving yards, and twelve touchdowns.
St. Brown Shows His True Class Against Green Bay
St. Brown had his statistically strongest game of the season so far in late October against a direct division rival. In the 20–17 victory over the Green Bay Packers, he caught nine passes for 153 yards. His longest reception was over 40 yards.
It was also a fitting response to his own high standards. After the previous win against Arizona, St. Brown had publicly made it clear—despite six receptions for 69 yards—that he was not satisfied with his own performance. It is precisely this self-criticism that has been a hallmark of his game for years. A week later, against Green Bay, he recorded his first 100-yard game of the season.
Lions Turn Their Season Around After a 2-2 Start
The first few weeks weren’t without their challenges for Detroit, either. After wins against New Orleans and the New York Jets, as well as losses to Buffalo and Carolina, the Lions initially stood at 2-2. Since then, the picture has changed.
Detroit first won convincingly, 45-21, at the Arizona Cardinals, then beat Green Bay 20-17, and most recently prevailed 19-15 over the previously undefeated Minnesota Vikings. As a result, the Lions stand at 5-2 heading into Week 9 and are right in the thick of the tight race for playoff spots in the NFC North.
Detroit’s defense is finding its form just in time
The development of the defense is particularly important for the Lions. In the first four games of the season, Detroit allowed an average of 34.3 points. During their current three-game winning streak, that number has dropped to just 17.6 points allowed per game.
In their victory over Minnesota, the Lions’ defense held their opponents to just 15 points and 266 total yards. Especially given the struggles at the start of the season, this is an important sign for the coming weeks. The Lions are thus heading into the decisive phase leading up to the NFL Munich Game as a much more complete team.
Goff, Gibbs, and St. Brown form the heart of the Lions' offense
On offense, Detroit continues to have numerous weapons at its disposal. After seven games, quarterback Jared Goff has 1,964 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and just one interception. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs has already racked up 773 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
Alongside St. Brown, Jameson Williams also brings explosiveness to the passing game with 437 receiving yards and five touchdowns. This creates a challenging mix for opposing defenses: Gibbs can control games on the ground, Williams provides speed down the field—and St. Brown remains the reliable target when Detroit needs crucial yards.
600 Catches: St. Brown Continues to Make NFL History
A look at his career shows that St. Brown’s performances are far from just a fleeting moment. Following the victory over Minnesota, the wide receiver now stands at exactly 600 receptions, 6,823 receiving yards, and 49 touchdowns in his NFL career.
Even before the past two games, St. Brown had set a remarkable record: No player in NFL history had recorded more receptions in his first six seasons. Since 2022, he has also surpassed the 1,000-receiving-yard mark every season. In 2023, he racked up 1,515 yards, followed by 1,263 in 2024 and another 1,401 yards last year.
For Amon-Ra, Germany is more than just an International Game
That’s exactly why his trip to Munich is far more than just another appearance by an NFL superstar. St. Brown’s mother, Miriam, is from Germany; he holds both American and German citizenship and speaks German fluently.
As soon as the Munich Game was announced, he made it clear just how special this game is to him. Ever since he entered the NFL, it has been a personal dream of his to play in Germany one day. Now that dream is becoming a reality.
First Miami, Then Munich
Before heading to Germany, however, Detroit still has one more game to play in the U.S. On November 8, the Lions will face the Miami Dolphins. A week later comes the big highlight: On November 15 at 3:30 p.m., Detroit and the New England Patriots will square off at the 2026 NFL Munich Game in Munich.
For Detroit, the game in Munich is officially a home game. And for St. Brown, there could hardly be a more fitting stage.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Becomes the Face of the NFL Munich Game 2026
When the Lions take the field in Munich this November, the eyes of German fans will therefore be fixed especially on number 14. Amon-Ra St. Brown uniquely bridges the gap between top-tier NFL competition, American football, and Germany. He has been among the elite at his position for years, speaks the fans’ language, and has never hidden his connection to Germany.
Now he’s coming to Munich with a Lions team that, at 5-2, is right in the thick of the playoff race—and with personal stats that once again look like Pro Bowl-caliber numbers. For fans at the 2026 NFL Munich Game, St. Brown will therefore be more than just one of the stars on the field. For many, he’ll be the player they’ve been especially looking forward to seeing on November 15.
