From Munich to the NFL: Nadine Nurasyid Becomes Coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A Munich Path That Continues in Tampa Bay
The news struck like lightning: Nadine Nurasyid is becoming an assistant coach in the NFL, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as part of the prestigious Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. Starting July 21, she will be a full part of the coaching staff for the entire preseason, including three games.
For the 39-year-old, who began her career with the Munich Cowboys and served as a coach of the German national team from 2021 to 2023, this is her greatest milestone yet. Over 1,500 applicants participated, but Nurasyid impressed with her expertise, vision, and her very own story.

Connection to Munich: Football Pioneer with an Ambassadorial Role
For Touchdown Munich, Nurasyid’s appointment is more than just a headline, it’s a symbol. Back in 2023, she supported the platform as an official brand ambassador and was part of the movement to make football in Munich more visible, more diverse, and more professional.
Her roots in the Bavarian capital run deep: as a player, a coach, and most recently as a media expert for RTL and DAZN. That she is now the first non-American woman ever to be accepted into the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship gives her career a global context. At the same time, it highlights the untapped potential in Munich’s football scene.

A New Year’s Eve Application Video - And a Leap Across the Pond
The story behind her appointment reads like a football fairy tale. On the last day of the year, just before a New Year’s Eve party, Nurasyid submitted her final application video. It included an analysis of a Buccaneers defensive play. Weeks later, after attending the National Coaching Academy in the U.S., she received the acceptance email.
The final hurdle was obtaining a work visa, but she overcame that as well. “I thought this was my peak, this was as far as I’d go,” she said in an interview. But life had other plans. And now she’s taking the next step. For herself, for football, and for a new generation of coaches who can see her as a role model.
