Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium wins NFL Flag Girls League - Munich shines in school football

Final Four dominated by Munich – Grasser-Gymnasium takes the crown
The debut season of the NFL Flag Girls League concluded with a grand finale in Hamburg. Munich sent two of the four finalists. Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium and Max-Planck-Gymnasium had both proven themselves in the Munich division, which was organized by the Kansas City Chiefs. In the Final Four, they faced two Hamburg schools and ultimately played out an exciting city-internal final.
Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium clearly defeated Max-Planck-Gymnasium 28:12, becoming the first official U15 champion of the NFL Flag Girls League. The Girls League was launched as a pilot project with eight participating schools (five from Munich, three from Hamburg), aiming to establish flag football among school-age girls. That goal has clearly been met: The players’ enthusiasm and the competitive level made the final tournament a real highlight.

Next stop: London - Flag Football made in Munich goes international
By winning the tournament, Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium not only secured the championship but also booked a ticket to the NFL Flag European Championships in London. In October, the team will represent Germany at the legendary Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and face off against the top teams from across Europe. For the Munich students, it’s not only a major sporting opportunity but also an unforgettable experience on the international stage.
Flag Football is booming and Munich is leading the way. The sport, a contactless version of American football, will be included in the 2028 Olympics and is growing rapidly – especially among girls. That a Munich school stands at the top shows: Football in Munich is more than just NFL fandom, it is played, trained and won.
